Welcome back to UNM! The OSE Program will be hosting its OSE New Student Orientation Luncheon on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, from 11:30 AM -1:00 PM at CHTM, Room 101. This is a time when our 12 new incoming PHD and MS degree students get oriented to the program and meet and greet the faculty, staff, and students.

This fall's orientation will have several interesting speakers. Dr. Steve Brueck, Distinguished Professor will be our special guest speaker. Dr. Brueck is a leader in the field of optics research, one of the founders of CHTM, an excellent academic/scholar and a strong administrator. We are looking forward to his address.

Moreover, we will be hearing talks from many in the academic community. The OSE General Chair, Dr. Daniel Feezell, Dr. James Thomas, OSE-Co Chair and Doris Williams, Sr. Academic Advisor will be addressing the new students. Dr. M. Jairo of the Graduate Resource Center, (GRC) and Assistant Professor, Holly Surbaugh, STEM Librarian of Library Services will be discussing the various services offered to new graduate students. Our UNM student group leaders will share the social, research and academic mission of their groups. Finally, Dr. Ganesh Balakrishnan, Director of EPSCoR will be giving the new students a tour of CHTM.

El Patio Restaurant will be catering the luncheon with meat and vegetarian options. At CHTM, they offer free parking passes.

We hope you will join us for this luncheon to support our new OSE graduate students.
